Calamares (Squid Rings)

Makes 4 servings.
Metric English
8pcs pusit (squid) 1/2 kg. 1.1 lbs.
1 pc calamansi or half slice of lemon 10g 1/3 oz
1/2 cup Mama Sita's palabok 80g 2 3/4 oz
(shrimp gravy) mix
1 cup Cornstarch 120g 4 1/4 oz
1 cup cooking oil 250mL 8 1/2 fl oz

Dipping sauce:
1 pouch Mama Sita's sweet & sour 57g 2 oz
Sauce mix
3/4 cup water 187mL 6 1/3 fl oz

Cooking direction:

1. Linisin ang pusit, tanggalin ang ulo at i-cut ito into rings sa sukat na 1/8" thick.
2. Magpiga ng kalamansi o lemon sa pusit, at banlawan ito ng maigi. Salain.
3. Ihalo ang Mama Sita's palabok (shrimp gravy) mix and cornstarch.
4. Dahan-dahang ipagulong ang pusit sa palabok-cornstarch mixture.
5. I-deep fry hanggang maging golden brown.
6. I-serve ito kasama ng Mama Sita's sweet & sour sauce o Mama Sita's nectar vinegar with crushed garlic, salt and pepper.

Dipping sauce:

1. Tunawin ang Mama Sita's sweet & sour sauce mix sa 3/4 tasang tubig.
2. Pakuluan, patuloy na haluin sa loob ng 2 mins.
Variation: Para mas magkaroon ng fruity flavor, i-substitute ang 3/4 tasang tubig sa anuman sa mga sumusunod:
-juice from lemon diluted with 3/4 c. water
-1/2 cup pineapple juice and 1/4 c. water
